A Fantastic Getaway
Pensacola has a wonderful, relaxed feel. The white sand beaches are just as beautiful as people say, but the downtown area around Palafox Street is also full of character. It was so easy to walk around and find great places for a meal.
Aviation History is Everywhere
The city's connection to naval aviation is powerful. The National Naval Aviation Museum is truly world-class, filled with incredible aircraft. It's a huge part of the local identity and a must-see for anyone with an interest in flight history.
Perfect White Sand Beaches
Pensacola is home to some of the most beautiful beaches I've ever seen. The sand at Pensacola Beach is pure white and so soft. It wasn't overly crowded when we visited, which was perfect for simply relaxing by the clear water. Great pier for a walk too.
More Than Just Beaches
There's a lot of history to explore here. We spent time out at the Gulf Islands National Seashore and Fort Pickens. Seeing the old brick fort set against the dunes and the water is quite a unique sight. A very interesting part of American history.
Great Food and Downtown
Loved strolling through the historic downtown. The architecture is great, with many small shops and galleries to discover. The seafood was fantastic, and trying the local Grits à Ya Ya dish was a definite highlight. So flavorful and different.
Excellent Family Trip
A wonderful destination for a family holiday. The beaches were clean and felt very safe for the kids. We were fortunate enough to catch a Blue Angels practice from a distance, which was a huge thrill for everyone. Plenty of space to enjoy the sun.
